Ready for an extraordinary journey where you'll make a real impact on young minds? Y Community School is calling on vibrant Youth Workers to join our new spirited team and be part of something extraordinary.

What's the opportunity?

As a Youth Worker (Learning Support), dive into an exciting role where you'll mentor, guide, and be a positive role model for students. From hands-on support to thrilling excursions, you'll collaborate with teachers, leverage technology, and ensure a positive vibe in the classroom. This isn't just a job – it's a chance to be part of an organisation dedicated to high quality education and creating a supportive learning environment.

Who on earth are we?

Y Whittlesea is a not-for-profit that happens to be part of the oldest youth organisation in the world and oldest social enterprise where all profits go back into our communities. The Y School is a fresh initiative, crafting a safe and inclusive learning environment for young people aged 15-20 who may have faced disengagement from education. We're all about providing support, services, and programs to empower individuals to achieve their goals and lead dignified lives. Be a part of something bigger!

What do we hope you'll bring?

  • Legal right to live and work in Australia.
  • Cert IV in Youth Work (or equivalent)
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
  • Police Check (International if you have lived outside Australia in the last 5 years)
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma quals
  • Demonstrated experience working with students in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents.
  • Familiarity with technology to support student learning.
  • Oh, and here’s another one. We trust you. We also care about you. In return, you’ll bring an innate work ethic, respect and care for others, and consistent integrity to all that you do.

Why should I want to be a Y Community School Youth Worker?

Real purpose, passion and impact: at Y Whittlesea you will embark on a rewarding journey where you can make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable and disengaged young people. Play a day-to-day role supporting students to learn, coaching them to overcome the barriers they may face, and seeing them grow and thrive as they become more confident and independent. All this whilst also knowing that you are part of something bigger: Disability services, Community Schools and much more where all surpluses go back into our communities. Enjoy a flexible workplace, a free gym membership, ongoing professional development opportunities, and competitive rates including salary packaging benefits to increase your take home pay.

Why might the Y not be right for me?

We rarely do ridiculous hours, but we do work very hard, every day.

You'll need to be highly organised, self-motivated and used to working as a team.

We value feedback highly, and will expect you to speak up, ask questions and share knowledge and we will do the same.

Ok, I'm in. How do I apply and stand out?
