Do you want to work with young minds and an authentic team who value kindness, warmth and fun?

Opportunities to float across our services in Epping, Eucalyptus, Doreen, Diggers Rest and Mill Park.

Do you like the sound of a flexible workplace exploring an optional 9-day fortnight, RDO or additional leave, significantly reduced childcare fees, a free gym membership, personal development, paid travel time between workplaces, competitive salary rates (including VECTEA) … and chocolate - just to balance out the fitness thing?

Yes? Well, then you might just have spied your dream job.

Who on earth are we?

Y Whittlesea is a not-for-profit that happens to be the oldest youth organisation in the world and oldest social enterprise where all profits go back into our communities. Our Early Learning spaces are where little imaginations thrive! Our vibrant environments inspire young minds through play and learning. Our caring educators create a safe and stimulating space for laughter, creativity, and friendship. With engaging activities and outdoor adventures, we foster a love of learning. At the Y, we are passionate about building a close-knit community.

What's the opportunity?

We're growing again and are looking for Educators to join the team. Whether you're earlier on in your career or have more experience under your belt, we'd love to hear from you.

As an early childhood educator—your days will be a whirlwind of laughter, imagination, and endless wonder! As a superhero in the world of little ones, you embark on a magical journey each day. You become a storyteller, capturing the hearts and minds of children with tales of adventure and excitement. You transform into an artist, exploring colors, shapes, and textures through messy play and creative crafts. You become a scientist, sparking curiosity with hands-on experiments and exploration of the natural world. And let's not forget the dance parties, where you groove to the rhythm of giggles and silly moves. As an early childhood educator, you create a safe and nurturing environment where little learners flourish, embracing their individuality and discovering their potential. So get ready for a role full of joy, discovery, and endless dance parties as you inspire the next generation of dreamers and achievers!

What do we hope you'll bring?

  • You need the legal right to live and work in Australia. (Sorry - it is what it is).
  • You have at least a year or two of professional experience as an Educator (Have more than that? Or just starting out, we'd love to hear from you too!)
  • We are also looking for Cooks too, so if you love food and more importantly love cooking creative and healthy food for children, let us know.
  • You have a drivers license and a car and a willingness to go to each of our sites as need be.
  • Be able to share stories on how you embody the spirit of fun, creativity, and warmth. How you bring joy through storytelling, embrace the wonder of childhood, and create laughter-filled experiences.
  • A passion for inspiring young minds and a playful spirit.
  • Needless to say, we're looking for someone with good English-language writing abilities, an understanding to the National Quality Framework and attention to detail.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma quals along with a Certificate III in Children Services, Diploma in Children Services (or equivalent) is important, however if you have the passion and don’t have these, we will help you get there.
  • Oh, and here’s another one. We trust you. We also care about you. In return, you’ll bring an innate work ethic, respect and care for others, and consistent integrity to all that you do.

Why should I want to be an Educator at the Y (or a Cook)?

Real purpose, passion and impact: at Y Whittlesea you will embark on a rewarding journey where you can ignite young minds, create joyful experiences, and make a lasting impact on the lives of children. All this whilst also knowing that you are part of something bigger: Disability services, Community Schools and much more where all surpluses go back into our communities that we work in.

Why might the Y not be right for me?

We rarely do ridiculous hours, but we do work very hard, every day.

You'll need to be highly organised, self-motivated and used to working as a team.

We value feedback highly, and will expect you to speak up, ask questions and share knowledge and we will do the same.

Ok, I'm in. How do I apply and stand out?

If you're really keen to explore this with us, we encourage you to put in some time to stand out. Please send your resume, answer a few questions on our application form and if you can, send us a cover letter telling us how great you are... your time to brag!

We are always open to taking applications at any time but the quicker you get in, the sooner we can look to interview you and hire you before anyone else.  So if you like the sound of us, jump in!

Of course, we will respond to every applicant.

Simply click the “apply now” button to submit your application.
