The Y Leisure City Epping is part of Y Whittlesea, a not-for-profit that happens to be the oldest youth organisation in the world and oldest social enterprise, where all profits go back into our communities. Situated in the heart of Epping, The Y Leisure City is an awesome recreational facility delivering programs and services in areas such as Aquatics, Health & Fitness and Sports & Recreation for all ages.

What’s the Opportunity?

We’re on the lookout for a passionate and experienced gymnastics coach to join our team in an exciting new role as Gymnastics Lead. This is an opportunity for an established gymnastics coach to take a first step towards a management position in Gymnastics. In this role, you will support the growth of Y Leisure City’s gymnastics program through maintaining a progressive and compliant approach to our gymnasts’ learning and development, as well as mentoring and supporting the development of our coaching staff.

Some of your key duties in this role will include:

  • Lesson plan management.
  • Reviewing, updating, planning and developing 1-2 of our gymnastics programs.
  • Ensuring compliance and efficient implementation of lesson plans on a fortnightly rotation.
  • Supporting and implementing skill testing strategies for our students.
  • Work with the Gymnastics Director to plan out and implement training for coaching staff.
  • Run and manage your own classes as a coach.
  • Supervise and support gymnastics classes of an evening and weekend, including overseeing coaching staff on shift.

This is a part-time opportunity of 20 hours per week that includes some night and weekend work to support our gymnastics programs. Enjoy being part of a fun and supportive team and enjoy the benefits of free access to our 24/7 gym on site.

What we hope you’ll bring:

  • Gymnastics Australia Intermediate or Recreation Gymnastics Australia Silver qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong gymnastics coaching experience, with knowledge of gymnastics techniques, safety guidelines and coaching methodologies.
  • Desire to grow your leadership experience.
  • Working towards Mentor/Supervisor and Club Developer and Assessor accreditation.
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check and National Police Check less than 6 months old (or ability to obtain).
  • International police check if you have lived or worked outside Australia in the last 5 years.
  • Nationally recognised First Aid and CPR qualifications.
